The agreement on simplification of customs procedures on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway has been ratified
Baku/08.06.23/Turan: Today , the Milli Majlis ratified the agreement between the governments of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey on the primary exchange of information on the simplification of customs procedures on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway.
The document is aimed at simplifying and accelerating international cargo transportation
The adoption of this document raises the geopolitical importance of Azerbaijan to a new level, Samad Seyidov, the head of the Parliamentary Committee on International Relations noted. In the near future the Central Asian countries will also join this project, he said.
It is planned to create a trilateral cooperation commission to resolve all issues. The depositary of the agreement is Turkey. The agreement is concluded for an indefinite period and all documents will be stored in Turkey.
The bodies responsible for the implementation of the agreement are the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Trade of Turkey and the Revenue Service of Georgia.
In 2022, 432,284 tons of cargo were transported through the BTK, by three times more than in the previous three years. ---03B---
