The Azerbaijani-British political consultations in London
A wide range of issues of the Azerbaijani-British relations were discussed yesterday in London at the comsulations on political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries. The delegations of the parties were headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov and Minister of State of Great Britain for European Affairs David Lidington. During the meeting it was noted that the political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Great Britain is at a high level. At the same time it expressed confidence that took place on February 11 in London, the first meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission Azerbaijan - United Kingdom will contribute to the expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in the non-energy sector.
The isue of Karabakh settlement was also touched upon. Khalafov praised the British position regarding the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. He stressed the need to step on the part of the United Kingdom, aimed at curbing illegal visits to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. Minister of State, David Lidington, in turn, said that he attaches special importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan and stressed the existing potential for expansion of bilateral relations. Lidington added that the United Kingdom does not recognize the separatist regime and does not have any relationship with him at the official level. Lidington assured that his country will continue to firmly support the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.-06D-

On November 26, the Baku Court of Appeals heard a complaint regarding the extension of the detention of former diplomat Emin Ibrahimov. During the hearing, the investigator requested that the complaint be rejected, while Ibrahimov's lawyer, Aghil Laidj, pointed out the lack of grounds for keeping Ibrahimov in custody.
