Baku/15.08.23/Turan: On Tuesday, the Charge d'affaires of Spain in Azerbaijan, Patricia Serano Sanchez, was summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry in connection with the Spanish Foreign Ministry's Twitter repost in support of the separatist regime in Karabakh.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the Charge d'affaires was told about the inadmissibility of Spain's support for the separatist regime on the sovereign territory of Azerbaijan, taking into account the fact that Spain itself is fighting separatism on its territory. Such an approach does not correspond to the spirit of Azerbaijani-Spanish relations and is strongly condemned by Azerbaijan, the Foreign Ministry noted.
In turn, the Spanish diplomat noted that her country supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and there have been no changes in this position.
She also noted that the specified repost was deleted after the discontent of the Azerbaijani side. ---16d---

On November 19, the Sabail District Court of Baku granted the prosecution's request to extend the pretrial detention of Talysh researcher Iqbal Abilov for another four months, his lawyer, Rovshan Rahimov reported. According to the lawyer, the defense considers Abilov’s detention to be unjustified and disputes the charges brought against him. Abilov himself also rejected the accusations. The defense plans to file an appeal against the court's decision.
