The EU will continue projects to support Azerbaijani refugees
Baku / 08.01.17 / Turan: The issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union were discussed on Monday at the meeting of the first vice-premier of the country's government, the head of the State Committee for Refugees Ali Hasanov and the head of the EU Delegation in Bakuby the Ambassador Kestutis Jankauskas.
Hasanov stressed the need for the settlement of the Karabakh conflict in accordance with the norms of international law within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and the return of internally displaced persons to their homes, the press service of the State Committee on Enlightenment said. Hasanov also recalled the EU's assistance to Azerbaijani immigrants, including the establishment of 16 Finnish villages of 200 home.
"Then the Azerbaijani government did not have economic opportunities. If it were not for international humanitarian organizations, the country would suffer a humanitarian catastrophe," Hasanov said.
In turn, Jankauskas announced his intention to visit the settlements, where internally displaced people are located and the continuation of EU support for projects in this area. -05D06--
