The Islamic Party is concerned with the health of Movsum Samedov
Islamic Party expresses concern about the state of Movsum Samedov, the imprisoned party chairman. The statement of the party sent to Turan agency reads that on June 27 evening received information about the deterioration of Samedov’s health. However, the jail N11 denied this, but no conditions were created for meeting with Samedov.
The IPA regarded not permitting the meeting of the lawyer Anar Gasimov with Movsum Samedov as an artificial obstacle. According to some reports, Samedov was placed to the punishment cell, after he was nominated by the party as a presidential candidate in the forthcoming elections.
Movsum Samedov and several party activists were arrested in January 2011 and accused of trying to overthrow the government. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison. -16D04-
