The journalist has trouble in jail

A journalist  from Ujar region, Fuad Huseynov,  who is kept in  jail   N12 is subjected to threats and pressure. The reason for this was the dissemination in the media an open letter of the prisoners  from  jail  N12 to the  President Ilham Aliyev and Minister of Justice Fikret Mammadov  on iniquity, lawlessness, extortion, bribery, inhuman treatment of prisoners in this prison, reads the information receive from the Public Alliance "Azerbaijan  without  political prisoners."

After the appearance of a letter of  the leadership of jail began  "hunting slanders."

One of the victims of this campaign was a journalist Fuad Huseynov, who has been subjected to criminal prosecution  due to his journalistic investigation "Valley of the Wolves - Ujar" (similar to the name of a popular Turkish TV series "Valley of the Wolves" on the activities of the Mafia), which spoke of criminal actions by the local police. Huseynov after the letter is exposed to abuse, threats.

According to the  Public Alliance, they are preparing  a provocation against. The journalists was even  warned that "if there is not  good, it will not leave the  prison alive."

According to the Alliance, Huseynov  told about the pressure on him and his family.

In this case, the journalist states that  he did not write the text of the appeal.  Coordinator of the Alliance,  Oktay Gyulalyev, also said Huseynov never signed a petition. On the other hand,  it would be better to settle the problems of the prisoners, than to punish them. "We will appeal to the Ombudsman that she visited the colony number 12, and met with the prisoners, which  are under pressure," said Gyulalyev.

The former political prisoner and human rights activist Tale Khasmamedov  who used to be engaged  in protecting the rights of Huseynov claimed  that the lawsuit is fraud.

As for the prisoners' complaints, Khasmamedov said that similar problems have occurred in the  jail N17, from which he was released late last  years.—06D--
