The NCDF continues its activities
The National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) successfully conducted the election campaign on October 9 and actually won the election. However, the voting results were totally falsified, and power in the country was once again usurped by the Aliyevs regime. This was the keynote of the session of the NCDF on October 24.
The candidate for presidency from the NCDF Jamil Hasanli called true the assessment of the European Parliament elections in Azerbaijan as undemocratic and not meeting international standards.
He noted that earlier PACE and the European Parliament observation missions gave a positive assessment of the elections "for private gain, for the fees." According to him, negotiations with these deputies were led by the Azerbaijani MP, head of the Association for Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan, Elkhan Suleymanov. These MEPs will be exposed, and protest actions will be held in front of their houses, said Hasanli.
The session highlighted the need to preserve the NCDF and turning it into a permanently functioning body. The NCDF is trying to obtain holding new presidential elections, the release of political prisoners, providing democratic freedom and the fight against corruption. Hasanli said that the fight against corruption will be consistent and personal. In his view, all the corrupt officials should be personally exposed to the people for specific offenses. He expressed the belief that began the struggle for democratic changes will complete by departure from the political scene of the corrupt, despotic and dynastic regime.
The session examined organizational issues. So, at their own request were withdrawn from NCDF Lala Shevket (the leader of the Liberal Party,) Asef Guliyev (former deputy chirman of PPFA,) Solmaz Huseynov, Ilham Hussein (PPFA,) Movsum Samedov (arrested the leader of the Islamic Party,) Elchin Manafov (acting head of the Islamic Party.)
Gulnara Gurbanova and Akif Shakhbazov have been excluded for not attending sessions of the NCDF. However, the meeting postponed consideration of the termination of membership of Rasul Guliyev, the leader of Open Society party in the NCDF party, and head of the Liberal Party, Avaz Temirkhan. However, in the beginning of the meeting Temirkhan left the room and told reporters that he is leaving the NCDF.
* The NCDF was established in June of this year, and consisted of 131 members, including more than a dozen of political prisoners. In addition, some members of NCDF, including its chairman Rustam Ibrahimbayov were abroad. -03C06-
