The Ombudsman visited the convicted citizens of Armenia
Baku/23.01.23/Turan: On Monday, Azerbaijani Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva and members of the National Preventive Group visited places of detention where convicted citizens of Armenia are kept, the Office of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan reported.
According to the same source, medical workers and psychologists also participated in the visits. The citizens of Armenia were received individually by Sabina Aliyeva and members of the NPG, after hearing their appeals. They were presented with the legislation of Azerbaijan in Armenian and explained the mechanism for applying for their rights.
During the visits, the conditions of detention were clarified - the condition, size of the cells, lighting, ventilation, personal hygiene and sanitary conditions, medical care, food issues.
“During the visits, it was noted that the requirements of the law were observed in relation to these persons, their rights were ensured and the necessary medical assistance was provided.
These prisoners had no complaints about the conditions of detention, treatment, telephone communication, correspondence, access to information from outside (television, publications), access to medical services.
It is noted that the convicts have artistic and informational materials in their native language, and they have the opportunity to freely meet with representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross,” the Ombudsman said in a statement.
The report does not name the number of convicted Armenian citizens. According to the Armenian side, Azerbaijan recognizes the presence of 38 convicted Armenians. ----16D---
