The staff of the Ombudsman's office visited Polad Aslanov
Baku/26.01.22/Turan: On Wednesday, employees of the ombudsman's office visited journalist Polad Aslanov at the Medical Institution of the Penitentiary Service after he ended a 20-day hunger strike. According to his wife Gulmira Aslanova, she was also allowed to see her husband and hand over things to him. Despite his weakness, Polad maintains good spirits and hopes for a fair trial of his case in the Supreme Court.
Currently, measures are being taken at the Medical Institution to rehabilitate Aslanov, who has become very weak after a long hunger strike.
* The editor of xeberman.com, Polad Aslanov, was sentenced on November 16, 2019 to 16 years in prison on charges of treason in favor of Iran. The Reporters without Borders organization and other human rights structures called on the Azerbaijani authorities to release Polad Aslanov.
On January 6, he began a hunger strike, demanding a review of his case and speeding up the consideration of the cassation complaint in the Supreme Court.
On the 9th day of the hunger strike, the Supreme Court scheduled the consideration of Aslanov's complaint for February 3. On January 25, on the 20th day of the action, the journalist stopped the hunger strike at the insistence of doctors.—06B-
