The term of the arrest of NIDA activist M.Azizov is extended for two months
Today Nasimi District Court of Baku extended for two months the arrest of an activist of NIDA civil movement, Mamed Azizov, Turan was told by Azizov’s lawyer Fariz Namazly.
According to him, the court rejected the defense motion to replace the detention to house arrest. The accused protested both decisions and proclaimed his innocence. The lawyer also intends to apply for re-interrogation of the accused stating that the primary testimony he gave to the MNS under pressure. Namazly did not rule out an appeal to today's decision by the court. Azizov was arrested on March 7 on charges of possessing illegal drugs.
* Azizov is one of the seven members of the NIDA Movement arrested on charges of possession of explosives and narcotics. They are charged with the preparation of disorder with the use of explosives and drugs during a protest action on March 10 against the soldiers' deaths. Three young men were arrested before the action, and the rest in the following weeks. The organization Amnesty International considers them prisoners of conscience and calls for their immediate release. -16B06-

On November 13, representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Afghan Taliban held talks in Baku as part of the COP29 conference. According to a report by Turan correspondent, the discussions took place behind closed doors and lasted for over an hour. No statements were made to the press following the meeting. Furthermore, conference security prevented journalists from asking questions to the meeting participants.
