The trial in the case og Bakhtiyar Hajiyev has begun
Baku/22.12.23/Turan: The criminal case against public activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev has been submitted to the Baku Court of Serious Crimes. The preparatory court hearing is scheduled for December 29.
Bakhtiar Hajiyev was detained on December 9, 2022 on charges of "hooliganism" (Article 221 of the Criminal Code) and "disrespect for the court" (Article 289 of the Criminal Code). In July of this year, he was charged under the Articles 192 (illegal entrepreneurship), 193-1 (legalization of proceeds from crime), 206 (smuggling), 320.1 (forgery of official documents) and 320.2 (use of knowingly forged documents). In November, he was also charged under the Article 213.1 of the Criminal Code (tax evasion, unemployment insurance payments, compulsory medical and social insurance).
All the charges are fabricated. The reason for the arrest and charges is punishment for criticizing the authorities, Bakhtiar Hajiyev is convinced. Human rights activists recognized him as a political prisoner.-06B-
