The UN confirmed the absence of incidents against Armenians leaving Karabakh
Baku/29.09.23/Turan: The United Nations (UN) stated that no cases of negative treatment were recorded during the journey to Armenia of Armenians living in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, the representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Armenia Kavita Belani stated at the weekly press conference of the UN Geneva Office, Anadolu agency reports. She spoke about the migration of thousands of people from the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan to Armenia and their situation in Armenia.
According to her, in less than a week, more than 88,700 people left Karabakh and reached Armenia. Belani said they were "concerned about the humanitarian emergency."
Belani noted that the Armenian government, with the support of the UN and other non-governmental organizations, has assumed responsibility for their protection and assistance.
To the question of the correspondent of the Turkish agency: "Has any ill-treatment of these people been recorded during their journey?" Belani replied: "I know that no incidents have been recorded so far. No cases of ill-treatment were recorded. It's a long journey, traffic jams are a difficult situation for people.
