The US is ready to work with Ilham Aliyev
Baku / 21.04.18 / Turan: "The United States is ready to work with President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people in various aspects, including human rights, democracy, respect for fundamental freedoms, support for economic reforms and welfare, and combating terrorism," reads the statement of the US Mission to the OSCE regarding the presidential elections on April 11.
The US Embassy in Azerbaijan reports that the statement was submitted to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry by Charge d'Affaires of Affairs Harry Garian. "We also, while carrying out long-term activities with the Minsk Group, are ready to provide support in the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," the statement said.
It is noted that the United States agrees with the OSCE's initial assessment of the issue in connection with the elections. "In the initial report, a number of mistakes were noted, including a limited political environment, the restriction of fundamental principles, the lack of conditions for competition. With good organization of elections, OSCE observers note numerous violations of the electoral process, lack of transparency, ballot rigging."
In the statement, the Azerbaijani government is invited to promptly eliminate the problems. -0--
