Three Agreements Signed at ADEX in Baku
Baku / 26.09.18 / Turan: Within the framework of the third Azerbaijan International Defense Exhibition ADEX 2018 held at the Baku Expo Center, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov and the Deputy Minister of Defense Industry Yahya Musayev signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Defense Industry in the field of equipping with new means of communication. The details are not disclosed.
Within the framework of the exhibition, two contracts were also signed between foreign participants and enterprises of the defense industry of Azerbaijan.
This is a contract between the Russian holding Shvabe and the Belorussian military 140th plant for the supply of spare parts and components for the equipment previously supplied to Azerbaijan, produced by the Shvabe holding company. ASTNA was informed by Deputy General Director of the Russian holding Dmitry Zhidkov.
"We have a long cooperation with this plant. Today's document has become an additional contract for the further development of our successful relations," he said. According to him, the amount of this contract is "good and decent."
Shvabe is an optical holding company of the state corporation Rostekh (100% state share) in the specialized plants and research institutes transferred to its balance in the period 2007-11. The holding produces sighting equipment for all types of armored vehicles, aircraft and helicopters. Several of them are also presented at the exhibition in Baku.
Also in the capital of Azerbaijan, a range of sights for small arms with different nuances is shown, depending on the tasks. Thus, the sight for sniper rifles has good recommendations in the world, is easy to use and is in high demand.
In general, the state corporation Rostekh has long close ties with Azerbaijan, Shvabe equipment has been on tanks since the time of the Soviet army, but since the collapse of the USSR new promising areas of cooperation have been determined every year.
A year ago Shvabe gained the right to independently export military products of its production and became more active.
Part of the production was delivered to the country within the framework of the military purchases carried out by Azerbaijan until 2018 from the Russian Federation for $ 5 billion.
Within the framework of this exhibition, numerous negotiations are envisaged.
The expediency of opening Shvabe's office in Baku is discussed.
Also, within the framework of ADEX, a contract was signed between Turkish Aselsan and one of the enterprises of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan. The details are not disclosed.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.
