Azerbaijan Project Milli Boat on ADEX
Baku / 25.09.18 / Turan: Azerbaijan has developed a project for the creation of four models of high-speed special-purpose vessels, code-named Milli Boat (national boat - Ed.). Turan IA learned about this during the international defense exhibition ADEX-2018, which is held in Baku.
The manager of international relations of the five-year-old Caspian Ship Building Company (CSBC), Ghalib Aliyev, in an interview with Turan, revealed details of the project, which includes the creation of the following ship models:
- a 14-meter boat MB-FAB14 (FAB - fast attack boat, that is, a fast attacking ship) with a maximum speed of up to 55 knots (high indicator for the sea). It can accommodate 4-6 people;
- 17-meter boat MB-FAB17, which can reach speeds of up to 70 knots or more, which until now has not been in the post-Soviet space and the Caspian Sea. It can accommodate 12 people;
- 28-meter vessel MB-FPB28 (fast patrol boat - operational patrolling), develops speed up to 45 knots, can be used for military purposes and for border guard;
- 35-meter vessel MB-FPB35 with a speed of up to 45 knots, 35 seats on board, for patrolling. Each of the vessels represented can be equipped with different types of weapons (by order of the client).
The project is completely designed by Azerbaijani specialists.
CSBC is waiting for government orders for these vessels and hopes to begin their construction as early as 2019 at its shipyard in Turkan.
Engines and a number of spare parts will be bought in Europe, but if possible, it is supposed to make maximum use of opportunities in Azerbaijan itself.
Already there are pilot vessels of these models that have been tested in the Azerbaijani water area of the Caspian Sea.
In average, depending on the dimensions, the creation of the vessel can take from 8 to 10 months, but in mass production - 2-3 months.
Vessels can easily be converted to civilian needs, up to the application for tourist purposes.
The debut presentation of CSBC immediately caused interest in Russia and Iran.
It should be noted that CSBC positions itself as the most modern shipbuilding and ship repair plant in the Caspian Sea region.
This enterprise is aimed at eliminating the dependence of Azerbaijan on the import of ships, as well as at the modernization of the already existing fleet. The plant is able to build various types of marine facilities, ranging from marine support blocks, cargo ships, tugboats, crane vessels, specialized vessels, passenger ships, and tankers. The capacity of the enterprise is 25,000 tons of steel structures per year. --0----

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) today issued five rulings on applications from Azerbaijan. The case of "Afgan Mammadov v. Azerbaijan" concerned the complainant's exclusion from the Bar Association. Mammadov was expelled based on a complaint filed by a colleague, which he considered unjust. The ECHR ruled that Mammadov's rights had been violated and ordered Azerbaijan to pay him €5,000 in compensation for moral damage and €1,000 to cover legal costs.
