Three Young Activists Arrested for 10 Days
Three young activists, who took part in the action in commemoration of the victims of mass murder in the Oil Academy on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the tragedy on April 30, were subject to administrative arrests.
Nasimi District Court in Baku on April 30 sentenced the chairman of the Youth Committee of the Popular Front of Azerbaijan Abulfaz Gurbanly, a board member of the movement NIDA Turgut Gambar and an activist of "Free Youth" Ilkin Rustamzadeh to 10 days of administrative arrest.
Gurbanly, Gambar and Rustamzadeh had been repeatedly subjected to administrative arrests and fines for taking part in protest actions.
Recall that the police did not allow the youth to hold this rally opposite the housing of the Oil Academy, where four years ago there was a tragedy.
The police broke up a group of young people trying to gather in other locations.
However, a group of young people made a 50-person march along the seaside boulevard and laid flowers at the spot where on Tuesday night there is planned a concert of the Turkish pop star Mustafa Ceceli.
In this way, they protested holding a concert on the anniversary of the tragedy in the Oil Academy.
* On April 30, 2009 a native of Georgia Farda Gadirov entered the building of the Oil Academy, and opened fire with a pistol, killing 12 and wounding 13 people. Gadirov shot himself. In the case there were convicted four accomplices of Gadirov - three to life imprisonment, and one - to 11 years in prison. -16C06-
