Tofig Yagublu Refuses Medical Assistance
Baku / 14.09.20 / Turan: On behalf of the Commissioner for Human Rights Sabina Aliyeva, a member of the National Preventive Group (NPG) under the Ombudsman, who is a doctor, visited the opposition politician Tofig Yagublu at the City Hospita clinic on September 14. Yagublu has been on a hunger strike for 13 days as a sign protest against the illegal sentence.
According to the press service of the Ombudsman's office, the member of the NPG inquired about Yagublu's health and studied his medical documents.
“During the meeting, the state of Yagublu's health was also discussed with his doctor, Professor Adil Geybulla. Tofig Yagublu is currently not eating, his condition is stable and he is under medical supervision. The issue remains in the center of attention of the Ombudsman,” the Ombudsman's office said in a press release.
In turn, the daughter of the politician Nigar Hazi was finally admitted to a meeting with her father in the intensive care unit of the clinic on September 14 in the afternoon.
“For the first time in six months, I saw him so closely and was able to hug him. He was very thin and weak, and his eyes seemed to sink into the depths. He told me that he was already refusing the intravenous infusion of drugs. The father said that even if Professor Geybulla insisted on the administration of drugs, he would not agree. My father said that his decision is firm: either he will be released, or he will die,” Hazi said. —06D-
