Trial of two Armenian armed forces servicemen begins
Baku/03.07.23/Turan: Today the Sumgayit Court of Grave Crimes held a preparatory hearing in the criminal case against Arutyun Yurikovich Ovahimyan and Karen Ashotovich Ghazaryan, accused of violating the state border of Azerbaijan and committing other serious crimes.
The background of the accused was examined, according to which Ovahimyan was born in Armenia in 1989, and served at the rank of sergeant in a military unit of Goris region.
Ghazaryan, born in 2004, was an enlisted soldier also serving in Goris.
Following a preparatory hearing, the court accepted the case and scheduled the hearing on the merits for July 5.
On 26 May, the Azerbaijani Border Guard Service claimed that a subversive group attempted to cross the border from Armenia and detained two Armenian servicemen.
Note that criminal cases were launched against Ovahimyan and Kazarian under Articles 206.3.2 (smuggling of weapons and ammunition by a group of persons by prior agreement), 214.2.1 (terrorism by prior agreement), 214.2.3 (terrorism using firearms), 228.2.1 (illegal arms trafficking by a group of persons), 283. 2.1 (committing actions aimed at inciting ethnic hatred by force) and 318.2 (illegal crossing of state border by a group of persons by force), Azerbaijani General Prosecutor's Office and State Border Service reported in their joint report. -1606В-
