U.S. and Allies Ramp Up Military Aid to Ukraine
U.S. and Allies are upping their military support to Ukraine amid the latest images of Russia’s war atrocities in Bucha, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports from the Pentagon.
The security assistance the Biden Administration is providing to Ukraine is "enabling critical success on the battlefield against the Russian invading force," according to defence officials.
All of the anti-armor and anti-air systems from the two packages of security assistance the White House approved in March "have been delivered," the Pentagon confirmed in a fact sheet..
Washington is continuing to work with allies and partners to identify additional weapons systems to help the Ukrainian military defend its country.
"More than 30 nations have sent Ukraine security assistance, thanks in part to our diplomacy" the Pentagon said.
And the Biden administration early this week said it would send up to $100 million worth of Javelin anti-tank missiles to Ukraine, its fourth such lethal aid package to the country since the war began, after confirming that it sent more than 100 Switchblade drones.
The latest assistance bringa the U.S. commitment to more than $1.7 billion in security aid since Russia’s February 24 invasion, and $2.4 billion since the beginning of the Biden administration, per the Pentagon.
U.S. security assistance committed to Ukraine includes:
* Over 1,400 Stinger anti-aircraft systems;
* Over 5,000 Javelin anti-armor systems;
* Over 7,000 other anti-armor systems;
* Hundreds of Switchblade Tactical Unmanned Aerial Systems;
* Over 7,000 small arms;
* Over 50,000,000 rounds of ammunition;
* 45,000 sets of body armor and helmets;
* Laser-guided rocket systems;
* Puma Unmanned Aerial Systems;
* Four counter-artillery and counter-unmanned aerial system tracking radars;
* Four counter-mortar radar systems;
* Armored High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles;
* Night vision devices, thermal imagery systems, and optics;
* Tactical secure communications systems;
* Commercial satellite imagery services;
* Explosive ordnance disposal protective gear;
* Medical supplies to include first aid kits.

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.

On November 22, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed negotiations with Azerbaijan regarding a peace treaty in an interview with Public TV.
