U.S. And Germany To Discuss Strengthening Ukrainian Air Defence This Week
Washington D.C./13.09.23/Turan: U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock will discuss boosting Ukraine's air defence system during their forthcoming meeting in Washington later this week, TURAN's U.S. correspondent reports.
The move comes as top German diplomat Annalena Baerbock said on Tuesday that she would encourage its partners to deliver available air defence systems to Ukraine for this winter.
"We’ve transferred a number of U.S. air defense systems to Ukraine," State Department's Spokesperson Matthew Miller told TURAN's Washington correspondent during Tuesday's press briefing.
He went on to elaborate: "In this last set of military assistance that the Secretary announced when he was in Ukraine, it included components of air defense systems that we have previously provided, and we have worked with other countries to – for them to provide air defense systems. So we will continue to do that"
Miller concluded: "I’m sure it’s a matter that [Secretary Blinken] will speak with his German counterpart later this week"
