US-Azerbaijan Commission Resumes Work after Seven Years
Baku / 05/16/19 / Turan: The fourth meeting of the US-Azerbaijan Economic Partnership Commission will be held in Baku on May 17.
The Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan reports that the agenda includes development of trade relations of the two countries, discussion of investment opportunities, economic reforms in Azerbaijan, as well as cooperation in tourism, tax, customs, agriculture, food security, intellectual property protection, etc.
There will also be an exchange of views on the current state of the trade partnership, the measures taken after the 3rd meeting of the commission, and the prospects for expanding ties.
A delegation of the United States led by First Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs, Peter Haas, will arrive in Baku to participate in the commission"s work.
Recall that the first meeting of the commission was held in Baku on February 7, 2007. The following two meetings were held in Washington on November 17, 2008 and April 17-18, 2012.

On November 13, representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Afghan Taliban held talks in Baku as part of the COP29 conference. According to a report by Turan correspondent, the discussions took place behind closed doors and lasted for over an hour. No statements were made to the press following the meeting. Furthermore, conference security prevented journalists from asking questions to the meeting participants.

Kichikhanim Khalilova, the wife of arrested public activist and first-group disabled person, Famil Khalilov, reported being followed during her time at the COP29 conference on November 13. She had been accredited in the "Green Zone" as a civil rights activist. From the moment she entered the conference area, a young man began to follow her.
