U.S. Continues To Support Engagement Between Azerbaijan, Armenia: State Department
The United States on Monday reiterated its support for engagement between Azerbaijan and Armenia toward a peace agreement, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports.
"We continue to support engagement between Azerbaijan and Armenia and continue to work to try to resolve that dispute," State Department's spokesperson Matthew Miller told a daily briefing when asked by TURAN about the latest phone call between Secretary Antony Blinken and Azerbaijan's Ilham Aliyev.
"I’m not going to get into the private diplomatic conversations," Miller said when asked about the nature of the call.
Blinken spoke with Aliyev last Friday and underscored the significance of concluding an agreement 'without delay' as the State Department said in a readout of the call.
He also urged Azerbaijan to release all those unjustly detained "expeditiously."

According to the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, the meeting expressed satisfaction with the development of bilateral relations based on mutual respect for each other's legitimate interests.
