"We discuss all issues directly with Baku, we don`t need intermediaries" - Maria Zakharova
Baku/20.07.23/Turan: The deployment of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) mission on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan "would contribute to the stabilization of the situation," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing today. "Nagorno-Karabakh is not included in the CSTO's area of responsibility," she stressed.
"The deployment of the Organization's mission in Armenia would make a significant contribution to the stabilization of the situation in the Armenian-Azerbaijani border area. Well, the ball is on the Armenian side," Zakharova said.
When asked by an Armenian journalist whether Russia has "other mechanisms and methods to achieve the unblocking of the Lachin corridor, other than appeals to which Baku does not listen" and whether it is possible to supply Karabakh Armenians "with the help of airplanes and helicopters," Zakharova replied: "We are working with all sides not only in the public plane, it is to the question of methodology. As for the delivery of humanitarian aid, we understand that individual countries and international structures are currently working on various options for resolving this issue."
To the clarifying question about the supply through Agdam, Zakharova replied that "I am not specifying this, if it is necessary to specify, I will specify the experts."
Answering a question about Moscow's relations to Azerbaijan's $7.6 million humanitarian aid to Ukraine, Zakharova made it clear that this does not concern Armenians.
"We discuss all issues from constructive to problematic with Baku directly, and we do not need intermediaries," Zakharova said. ---06B
