Baku/13.05.21/Turan: Russia's deputy commander of the Southern Military District has become commander of peacekeeping forces in Karabakh, Russian Rostov-based website DonDay.ru reports.
Lieutenant-General Aleksei Avdeev is to replace Rustam Muradov in the post.
Avdeev has already arrived in Karabakh and will take up his duties soon," the Rostov website reported.
However, there is no information about the new appointment on the official website of the Russian Defence Ministry, which covers peacekeepers' activities.
General Avdeev was born on 17 May 1967 in Tashkent. He is a graduate of the Sverdlovsk Suvorov Military School. He served in various command positions.
He has been deputy commander of the troops of the Southern Military District since 2019.
Muradov's replacement was also reported by the Yerevan-based Hraparak website. -0-
