Yerevan Did Not Accept Call of Azerbaijan, Turkey for Reconciliation
Baku / 11.12.20 / Turan: The appeals of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey made on December 10 to Armenia with a proposal for reconciliation were not accepted in Yerevan. So, a couple of hours after the statements of Aliyev and Erdogan made at a briefing in Baku, the press secretary of the Armenian Prime Minister Mane Gevorgyan called these calls "provocative".
Thus, the words of Aliyev that modern Armenia is the historical lands of Azerbaijanis, where they lived for centuries, are regarded in Yerevan as "threatening regional stability and peace."
“Aliyev’s statements that Azerbaijan solved the Karabakh problem by military means shows again who is the initiator of the war and the use of force and who is trying to lead the region along the path of further destabilization and testing.
These statements testify to the priority of international recognition of the right of the Armenians of Artsakh to self-determination as a means of preventing a new genocide against the Artsakh Armenians. These statements are contrary to the spirit and provisions of the November 9 tripartite statement. Talking with the Armenian people from the standpoint of threats is reprehensible and cannot lead to long-term stability in the South Caucasus. We also strongly condemn the praise by the President of Turkey of the architects of the Armenian Genocide - Young Turkish ideologists. Such manifestations cast doubt on Turkey's statements about its readiness to promote the establishment of regional peace and stability,” Gevorgyan told Armenpress news agency.
Let us remind you that Ilham Aliyev at a briefing after the Victory Parade said that a new cooperation platform should be created in the region.
"All the countries of the region participating in this platform will only benefit. There is a traditional Turkish-Azerbaijani-Georgian cooperation, there is Azerbaijan-Russia-Iran cooperation, and Turkey-Russia-Iran cooperation. We can generalize all these platforms, uniting them into a single one. Armenia will draw the right conclusions from the war, renounce its unfounded claims and look into the future, they can take a place on this platform. We are open for this," Aliyev said.
The enmity between the two countries must stop, we must close this page and put an end to this enmity," he continued.
Erdogan also supported Aliyev's idea, urging Armenia to draw conclusions from the results of the war. "Turkey and its residents do not have hatred for the Armenian people. All problems are with the leadership of Armenia," Erdogan noted, adding that today more than 100 thousand Armenian citizens live and work in Turkey.
The Turkish leader commented on the likelihood of opening the border with Armenia. “If Yerevan takes positive steps towards Ankara, we will open the borders. We have no desire to keep the border closed forever," Erdogan stressed. -02D-
