Baku/28.06.18/Turan: The total number of registered drug addicts in Azerbaijan at the beginning of 2018 total 30,131 people. The clinic registered 25139 of them, the press service of the Ministry of Health reported.The figures were announced on June 28 at a conference organized by the State Commission for the Prevention of Drug Addiction and Illicit Drug Trafficking, as well as by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The number of drug users receiving preventive treatment is 4,992, and those with anonymous treatment are 31 people. The total number of women drug addicts is 595 people. According to the ministry, in 2017 another 2,700 drug addicts were registered. Most of them have regular check-ups. In 2017, the total number of officially registered juvenile drug addicts was 432 people.
It is noted that in the first quarter of 2018, forensic and narcological medical examination of individuals was submitted to the Republican Narcological Center under the Ministry of Justice. 526 people were examined; 372 of them were subjected to forced treatment of drug addiction.
The ministry also announced results on drunkenness. According to the information, about 8056 cases of intoxication were examined in the first quarter. 1043 of them were examined for drug use, and thus 551 people were registered as drug addicts.-0-

The closure of Azerbaijan's land borders was discussed during the parliamentary session on November 25. Additionally, in Iran, many are prepared to cross into Azerbaijan to safeguard their lives and assets amid military strikes. Such waves of refugees could lead to humanitarian, social, and cultural clashes that may threaten political stability."

On Tuesday, the General Prosecutor's Office announced the initiation of new criminal cases against agricultural product exporters who allegedly concealed their earnings abroad. Specifically, the Sumgayit City Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal case under Articles 208.2.1 and 208.2.2 (failure to return foreign currency to the country in large amounts by prior agreement of a group of individuals) and Article 308.2 (abuse of office causing serious consequences) against officials of the company "SOİL BOONS" LLC – Jahangir Aliyev, Elyar Gadzhiev, Mehman Mirzamedev, Saleh Gabilov, and Aly Aliyev.
