A member of the municipal council was given a warning for a post about the police

Baku / 08.07.21 / Turan: Rufat Aliyev, a public activist and a member of the municipal council of the village of Khamosham, Astara region, was taken to the local police department on Thursday due to a facebook post. The point at issue is the wedding status.

In particular, Aliyev pointed out that "there are talks that the police is screwing out 300-500 manats or 5 manats per each wedding participant for not interfering in wedding (due to the quarantine regime – Ed. comment)."Because of the said status, the activist maintains, in the evening of July 8, he was taken from his home to the police where they demanded to remove the post.

However, he categorically refused to do this and two hours later the activist was released having given a warning.

The head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ehsan Zahidov, told Turan that he had no information about the activist's record to the Astara district police department.
At the same time, Zahidov insisted that Aliyev's allegations were at variance with the reality.
"This is impossible. He wrote the status without specifying any facts. He was invited to the department to identify those extorting money from wedding organizers. If he has any specific facts, then please let him present them. If there are no facts of this sort, then he is responsible for spreading false information," Zakhidov said.

It ought to be noted that since July 1, wedding celebrations are permitted in Azerbaijan with a preliminary notification on the electronic portal of the government. At the same time, no more than 150 people are allowed to take part in the celebrations. At weddings with more than 50 people, all guests must be vaccinated or submit a certificate of immunity. –21B06-
