A preventive measure in the form of arrest chosen against the PFPA activist
Baku/15.08.21/Turan: To a member of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Agyl Gumbatov was placed in pretrial detention under Article 126.1 (intentional infliction of serious harm to health) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. The Khazar district court arrested him for 4 months, and he was placed in a pretrial detention center-3 in the village of Shuvelan. His wife Aygyun Gumbatova told Turan.
According to her, on August 15, her husband called from the pretrial detention center and told about what had happened to him.
"Agyl said that he caused no bodily injuries to anyone. He said that when a man came up to him on the street, shouting loudly, and began to accuse a member of his family of insulting him. Then the man pulled a knife out of his pocket and started shouting that Agyl had hit him with this knife. In fact, this person had no injuries at all. However, the police immediately appeared and detained Agyl," Aigyun Gumbatova said.
The woman believes that the activist is persecuted for criticizing the authorities on social networks.
"On the eve of the detention, Agyl's Facebook page was hacked and his video messages deleted where he demanded to introduce child benefits," the activist's wife said.
She noted that her husband had already been arrested on slanderous charges. So, the last year, according to the perjury of one woman, Agyl was placed in a psychiatric hospital.
The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs failed to be reached for comment. According to Article 126.1, Gumbatov faces a sentence of imprisonment from 3 to 7 years.
Earlier, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that Gumbatov was detained for stabbing a resident of the village of Zira, Yamen Mammadov. The incident took place on August 11.—06D-

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
