A resident of the House of Journalists urged neighbors to complain to the president
Baku/04.09.19/Turan: No one can take away apartments donated to journalists according to the decree of the President of Azerbaijan, Vugar Safarli, executive director of the State Support Fund for Media Development, said on Wednesday after residents living in the "House of Journalists" posted angry posts.
Residents of the House of Journalists accused Safarli of the fact that the Fund does not allow them to privatize apartments. The dissatisfaction of the journalists was also caused by the fact that Safarli called them tenants in the "House of Journalists".
Earlier in an interview with the Qafqazinfo website, Safarli stated that the House is state-owned and the apartments in it are official. Until the House is registered with a state body, it is the property of the state. The fund cannot donate apartments in such a house to reporters, Safarli explained.
One of the inhabitants of this house wrote that they were used for public relations, and now it turns out that they live in the house, like tenants. He called on fellow neighbors to ask the president to help them privatize donated apartments. Later, the author withdrew his appeal, but other users took a screenshot of the post.
Journalists recalled the speech of President I. Aliyev at the opening of the second House of Journalists on July 20, 2017, where he said that 255 apartments in this house are a gift to journalists. However, since 2017, residents of this house cannot privatize apartments.
The first House of Journalists was commissioned in 2013, and it has 156 apartments. The third house under construction will have 255 apartments.
According to Turan, one of the residents of the second House of Journalists, who wished to remain anonymous, the inhabitants of the first house were privatized. Some then sold them. The process of privatizing apartments in the second house is delayed for unknown reasons.
According to some reports, part of the residents of both houses, "donated" to journalists, are not members of the media or did not need housing.
In turn, the head of the public relations department of the State Committee for Property Affairs Gulu Khalilov said that the privatization of apartments in this house is hindered by the lack of documents that the State Support Fund does not transmit to the State Committee. There are no obstacles to privatization on the part of the committee," Khalilov said. -0-
