Baku/06.01.23/Turan: On 5 January, a group of Azerbaijani activists held a protest action in front of the White House in Washington, DC, at the initiative of "Democracy in the Name of Azerbaijan", under the slogan: "Release the political prisoners in Azerbaijan!
The participants demanded the release of political prisoners: Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, Tofig Yagublu, Abid Gafarov, Tale Bagirzade, Ali Aliyev, Avaz Zeynally, Niyameddin Ahmedov and Agil Humbatov, holding placards with their portraits in the hands.
"We demand law respect in Azerbaijan, no persecution of people for their beliefs and freedom for all political prisoners. We want democracy in Azerbaijan and a democratic government," said one of the protesters.
