Afghan Sadigov sentenced to seven years in prison
Baku / 03.11.20 / Turan: The Baku Serious Crimes Court today sentenced Afgan Sadigov, the head of the online publication Azel.Tv, to seven years in prison, having found him guilty of extortion through threats, reported his wife Sevinj Sadigova.
The defense will appeal the verdict.
Sadigov was detained on May 13, and the Binagadi court arrested him for 4 months. He was detained together with the editor of X изданияbə rfakt.az, Sakit Muradov, red-handed while receiving a 10,000 manat bribe. However, Muradov was not taken into custody.
Afghan Sadigov is known for scandalous publications in which it was alleged that some officials were involved in corruption and crime. The Union "For Freedom of Political Prisoners" declared A. Sadigov a political prisoner. –06D-
