Animal defenders protest the shooting of stray dogs in Sumgayit
Baku/20.03.23/Turan: A group of animal defenders held a protest action in front of the Sumgayit Executive Authority in connection with the shooting of stray dogs.
According to the head of the Azerbaijani Public Association for Animal Protection Farid Mansurov, a mass shooting of stray dogs was carried out last night in Sumgayit.
These animals were vaccinated, sterilized and were absolutely safe, he noted.
Animal rights activists believe that the dogs were killed by the association of housing and communal services.
"The Executive authorities of Sumgayit stated that they were not involved in this and there was no information about who shot the dogs. Who knows then? I believe that the instruction was given precisely from the Executive Branch. How does it turn out – armed people are walking around the city, and the police are powerless to detain them?", Mansurov continued.
The Sumgayit Executive Authority told the audience that this structure has nothing to do with what happened.
It was not possible to get comments from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. ---06B---
