Baku/13.04.21/Turan: The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that in a number of states, including countries neighboring Azerbaijan, a high incidence of bird flu has been recorded. Infection with the disease in most cases occurs because of contact with wild birds. In this regard, the Republican Agency for Food Safety of Azerbaijan (AGTA) started a five-day monitoring of the avian flu epizootic situation on April 12. Analyzes are carried out on nesting birds in water basins located throughout the country.

Azerbaijan is located on the route of movement of migratory birds, which are the main distributors of avian influenza. There are also territories for permanent and temporary wintering of wild birds, especially on the shores of the Caspian Sea, in the swampy areas of many state reserves on the lowlands.

Earlier, a ban was introduced on the import of poultry meat and products of its processing from a number of countries, including Germany, Nepal, Estonia, Kuwait, Iran, Ukraine. This is less than in February last year, when the ban affected 12 countries. AGTA) called on entrepreneurs to be vigilant and responsive to the problem.

The highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza was first confirmed in Azerbaijan on February 9, 2006 in wild birds in Absheron, and periodically makes itself felt.

In 2008, the National Influenza Pandemic Preparedness Plan was adopted, which was approved by the State Commission for the Prevention of Avian Influenza Disease in the Republic of Azerbaijan. — 0—
