Appeals of Four PFPA Activists Rejected
Baku / 13.08.20 / Turan: The Baku Court of Appeal today rejected a complaint against the administrative arrest of Elnur Yusubov, a member of the Organizational Department of the Popular Front Party (PFPA).
He was detained on July 26 and arrested for 30 days on charges of violating the quarantine regime.
As reported in the PFPA, Yusubov himself was present at the consideration of the complaint, who announced the falsification of the protocol on the commission of an administrative offense.
Yusubov described his arrest as part of the repression campaign launched against the PFPA after the "Karabakh action" on July 15.
Note that Yusubov has a young child in his care and the law prohibits administrative arrest of persons from this category. However, the court dismissed his complaint and the defense intends to apply to the European Court of Human Rights.
The day before, the Baku Court of Appeal also dismissed complaints about the administrative arrest for a period of 30 days of three more PFPA members - Sarvan Jumayev, Babek Muradov and Yashar Kerimov. They were also arrested at the end of July on charges of violating the quarantine regime. At the same time, their detention was formalized 2-3 days later. They will also apply to the ECHR, the PFPA said. –06D-

In 2017, the Sumgayit City Court ruled to evict the Aliyev family—refugees from Gubadli (Akper, Sarvinaz, Ramil, and two other family members)—from an illegally occupied apartment in the 12th microdistrict, Building 7A, Apartment 35. The court ordered the property be returned to its rightful owner, Samaya Aliyeva. However, the Ministry of Justice intervened, citing a presidential decree from July 1, 2004, which approved a state program for improving the living and working conditions of refugees. Under this directive, refugees without alternative housing cannot be evicted until they are provided with a replacement residence by the Executive Authority.
