Arrested Editor’s Wife Turns to Ilham Aliyev
Baku / 27.12.19 / Turan: Spouse of the arrested editor of the website xeberman.com Polad Aslanov asked President Ilham Aliyev to help stop the criminal prosecution of her husband.
Polad was arrested unreasonably for his journalistic publications about the facts of extortion of security forces at the border, based on specific evidence, his spouse writes.
Aslanova notes that their 6-year-old daughter has been expecting to see her father for 7 months now. “The best gift for a child for the New Year would be the return of her father and celebration of the holiday,” Aslanova notes.
Recall that the editor of the website xeberman.com Polad Aslanov was detained on June 12 and arrested for 4 months on charges of Art. 274 (treason) of the Criminal Code. The investigation is conducted by the State Security Service. On October 5, the arrest period was extended for another 4 months.
The other day he was charged again under Art. 134 (threat to kill or cause serious bodily harm) of the Criminal Code.
Local and international organizations condemned the prosecution of Aslanov, believing that the publication of corruption in law enforcement agencies was the real reason for his arrest. -06B-
