Arrests of believers in the regions
Baku / 22.08.10 / Turan: Arrests of believers are being held, protesting against the prohibitions of the events of the mourning month of Muharram and the closure of mosques in connection with the quarantine regime continue in the regions of Azerbaijan.
According to information from religious activists, Aykhan Jamalov and Eldar Mammadov were administratively arrested for 25 days in the Shamkir region.
In the Barda region, a former political prisoner, a member of the Muslim Unity Movement Elshan Abbasov, was summoned to the police and, according to family members, he was arrested for 30 days.
In Lankaran, 8 believers were taken to the police. Seven of them were soon released, and theologian Seyid Javid Miriev was arrested for 10 days.
In Beylagan, 20 believers were detained and released after being fined.
In Ganja, 6 believers were interrogated.
Gazanfar Fardi from Yevlakh has been arrested for 16 days. -06D-
