At the trial in the case of former head of the International Bank
On Monday, the Serious Crimes Court continued the trial in the case of the former head of the World Bank Jangir Hajiyev, anda group of his former employees. Today gave testimonies the accused Azad Javadov, who was the director of the plant for processing nuts, controlled by Hajiyev. The bank issued a loan for five million AZN for this company, but money were not returned, and the company was transferred under the control of the IBA. Then Javadov took a loan of 17 million manat. According to him, he was forced to take the money to pay off the tax debt. Another loan of 816,000 manat Javadov took for his mother, but did not explain why.
Another loan of 60 million AZN was taken in the International Bank for the expansion of the plant for processing nuts. Javadov denied investigators charge that from this loan were stolen six million AZN. Jahangir Hajiyev said that Javadov was his classmate, and he "trusted" him to conduct such operations.
Further security officials of the «Inter Security Ltd» gave testimonies, in the names of which were registered large loans of up to one million manat. According to them, the loans in their name have been taken on behalf of the IBA management, but they have not seen the money.
The trial continues. The former head of the International Bank is charged with large embezzlement and fraud. He was arrested in December 2015. -02D-
