Today the Baku Serious Crimes Court chaired by Eldar Mikyailov held a preparatory trial in the case of Rufat and Rovshan Zahidov. The first is the nephew of political emigrant Ganimat Zahid, the head of the TV program "Azerbaijan Saati". And the second is his cousin. The trial scheduled for today was adjourned because the accused had not been provided with indictment. The next trial is scheduled for 23 February. Zahidovs were arrested in July 2015 on charges of possession and distribution of drugs (Article 234.4.1 and 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code). They can be imprisoned from five to 12 years in prison. Ganimat Zahid believes that the arrest of his relatives is a political order. A lawyer Bahruh Bayramov said that there was not any evidence against his clients during the preliminary investigation, and Zahidovs are completely innocent. -03C04-
