Authorities banned opposition rally in support of Ukraine
Baku/30.03.22/Turan: The Baku City executive power refused the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) to hold a rally in support of Ukraine on 2 April.
On 25 March the NCDF sent a notice to the mayor's office of Baku to hold a rally in one of three places: Mehsul stadium; a park in front of Narimanov metro station and Ukraine Square.
On March 30, the organizers of the rally received a refusal from the mayor's office, Vahid Maharramov, member of the NCDF coordination center, told Turan.
The refusal was motivated by restrictions of the quarantine period and the threat of the coronavirus spreading.
The NCDF considers this pretext unreasonable, because earlier, a solidarity rally was held in front of the Ukrainian Embassy, and then the quarantine regime was not taken into account. -16В06-
