Avaz Zeynalli was transferred from the State Security Service to the pre-trial detention center of the Penitentiary Service
Baku/01.02.23/Turan: On January 31, the head of the ""Khural TV" YouTube channel, Avaz Zeynalli, was transferred from the SIZO of the State Security Service to the Baku pre-trial detention center-1 of the Penitentiary Service. Today he was allowed to meet his wife Malahat Gisuri. This was Zeynalli's first meeting with a family member in the five months since his arrest.
“Avaz's condition improved after being transferred to the pre-trial detention center of the Penitentiary Service, he underwent a medical examination, his vision problem worsened. It is necessary to remove the cataract and we will apply for an operation,” said the wife.
* Lawyer Elchin Sadigov and "Khural TV" website founder Avaz Zeynalli were detained on September 10 on suspicion of accepting a bribe, and on September 11 the court arrested both.
On September 17, the Baku Court of Appeal transferred Sadigov to house arrest.
Later, Zeynalli brought a new charge under Article 312-1.1 (Illegal influence on the decision of an official (trading in authority) of the Criminal Code. On December 29, Zeynalli's arrest was extended by 3 months. ---21/B06---
