Our schoolgirls supported jointly by Azercell and the Ministry of Science and Education have returned from the International Olympiad with well-deserved medals
The Azerbaijani team supported by "Azercell Teleсom" showcased exceptional performance at the European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics held in Sweden on July 15-21, 2023.
Among the winners, Fidan Huseynova, the 11th-grade student of Ganja Physics, Mathematics and Informatics biased lyceum under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, secured a gold medal, while Fidan Garayeva, the 11th-grade student of Baku Physics, Mathematics and Informatics lyceum gained a silver medal.
The prestigious competition saw the participation of approximately 200 talented young women interested in Computer Science representing over 50 countries worldwide. Azerbaijan was represented by a team of 4 schoolgirls, who demonstrated their skills in developing challenging problems by designing and implementing effective algorithms for the given tasks.
"Azercell Telecom" has been steadfast in its commitment to supporting schoolchildren in their journey to international Informatics competitions as a part of a collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan since 2017. President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. The invitation, delivered by Member of the European Parliament Michael Bloss at the COP29 climate conference, comes as Ibadoglu remains under house arrest and prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan.

An operation at Istanbul Airport has revealed an incident that could strain diplomatic relations. Kahraman Shamil oglu Mammadov, alleged to be an Azerbaijani military attaché, was caught with 70 kilograms of gold. According to Turkish media, Despite Mammadov's claims that he is a diplomat, it is believed that the incident is related to gold smuggling.

On a brisk November evening, the residents of Baku gathered along the waterfront of the Caspian Sea, stunned by what appeared to be the washed-up body of a colossal whale. At 16 meters long, the creature’s seemingly lifeless form and pungent odor left many convinced they were witnessing an ecological tragedy. By that night, however, the mysterious visitor had departed, loaded onto a cargo platform and whisked away to the airport.
