Azerbaijan arrests those accused of participating in illegal armed groups in Syria
Baku/22.06.23/Turan: The State Security Service of Azerbaijan reported the detention of 13 citizens of the country accused of participating in illegal armed formations on the territory of Syria.
In particular, as a result of the investigation conducted by the State Security Service, the facts of the "illegal penetration" of these persons into the territory of Syria "for the purpose of participating in armed conflicts accompanied by commiting terrorist acts" were established, the Ministry said.
The members of the group, who were trained in a special training camp, participated in battles as part of an illegal armed group called "Tayfatul Mansura" in Idlib. These persons have been identified and put on the international wanted list, the press release further says.
Thirteen people suspected of the above crimes were detained and extradited to Azerbaijan as a result of the measures taken.
The report cites the names of the detainees - Abdullayev Shamil Tohud oglu, Agametov Murad Alibala oglu, Guliyev Murad Firudin oglu, Rustamov Farhad Isa oglu, Sultan Sultan Idris oglu, Huseynov Najmeddin Nazir oglu, Mahmudov Hikmet Sahib oglu, Aliyev Mais Telman oglu, Ismailov Ismail Aydin oglu, Babayev Shakhriyar Rahim oglu, Muradov Haji Arif ogly, Bakhishov Alovsar Alisafa oglu and Asadov Intigam Shirin oglu.
These persons were brought to criminal responsibility as defendants under Article 283-1.3 (creation of groups for participating in armed conflicts outside the Republic of Azerbaijan, participation in these groups, exercises or armed conflicts) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen against them by a court decision, the report says.
