Azerbaijan bans 17 companies to import pepper and kiwi from Iran
Baku/19.05.23/Turan: The Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan has imposed a temporary ban on 17 companies to import pepper and kiwi from Iran.
According to the FSAA, examination of 19 batches of peppers from Iran imported by Iranian companies detected the pest "Brown wrinkle virus" (Tobamovirus).
"10 consignments of these products belonged to "Rasol Soleimanpour" company, 4 to "Amanj Sahraghard" company, 2 to "Evoid Sarmayeh Asia" company", 1 to "Bazargani Diba Mehr Darian", 1 to "Farhad Tejarat Ramin" and 1 to "Sara Jabaroti" company.
Besides, the agricultural pest "Mulberry scab" (Pseudaulacaspis pentagona) was detected in 34 shipments of kiwifruit imported by Iranian companies and is subject to quarantine.
Among the fruit lots infested with this pest, 6 lots belonged to "Sara Jabaroti", 5 to "Ramin Cheraghi", 4 to "Bahram Gostar Aras Shargh", 3 to "Syed Ali Akbar Abul Maali" and 3 to "Avoid Sarmaye Asia" company.
One case of infestation has been detected in each of the remaining 13 exporting companies," the agency said.
The National Plant Protection Organisation of Iran has been notified of the detected pests and asked to investigate and report the results.
"We regret to note that cases of infected products continue to be detected. In addition to the above-mentioned Iranian companies, the above-mentioned pests have also been detected among Azerbaijani importers of products from Iran. They are "Dry Fruits" Ltd, "Fruit Is" Ltd, "Balli Stor N" Ltd and "Southern Potato" Ltd, "Amotrad" Ltd, "Narnumru" Ltd, "Fadak 1974", "Freer Fruit" Ltd, "Sanerji Az" Ltd.
Because of those cases, a temporary ban on import of pepper and kiwi was imposed from 17 May by the above-mentioned 9 companies in Iran and 8 companies in Azerbaijan. -03-
