Azerbaijan creates Anti-Doping Commission
The Executive Committee of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Azerbaijan decided to establish an anti-doping commission. The decision was taken on Wednesday at the NOC Executive Committee of Azerbaijan. The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Ismail Ismailov was appointed the commission’s Chairman.
"Creating such a commission has matured and this topic is now urgent. Azerbaijani athletes have also faced doping accusations, so we decided to create a special commission to regulate these issues," said Ismailov.
In April, the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) disqualified nine members of the Azerbaijani team for doping. Zulfugar Suleymanov received a lifetime ban. -02D-
