Azerbaijan is among the countries protecting the ozone layer
Baku/16.09.21/Turan: According to the resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1994, September 16 is celebrated in the world as "Ozone Day". At present, Azerbaijan is among the countries that fulfill their obligations under the convention, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources said.
As a result of measures taken under various projects in the country, the use of ozone-depleting substances is decreasing in accordance with the schedule established by the Montreal Protocol. This is facilitated by the modernization of industrial enterprises, an increase in the import of modern refrigerators and air conditioners into the country.
According to the Ministry of Ecology, in 1996 Azerbaijan has joined the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, and the agreement on amendments to this protocol.
“By joining these international agreements, our country has undertaken to protect the ozone layer, which is a global environmental problem. The commitments are to replace industrial and household ozone-depleting devices, especially refrigerators and air conditioners, with more modern technologies to ensure a gradual transition to a green economy and a reduction in imports of ozone-depleting ones every year, ”the Ministry of Ecology said.
The ministry notes that Azerbaijan is among the countries that fulfill their obligations under the convention. The main goal of the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is to raise awareness of the dangers of the ozone layer, which is important for all life on Earth, and to draw attention to this issue. –06D-
