Azerbaijan to host campaign against gender-based violence
Baku / 25.11.19/Turan: The UN Office in Azerbaijan together with the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs is launching a 16-day campaign against violence against women and girls.
According to a press release from the UN office, during the campaign, video clips will be posted in media and social networks with appeals from officials calling for an end to violence against women and girls, as well as videos aimed at encouraging the community's response to violence.
During the campaign, information on this topic will be posted in public places (metro, bus stops, shopping centers, etc.) information will be posted on where victims of violence can turn for appropriate support.
This year, as part of the campaign, a series of trainings for youth in the regions of Azerbaijan - Masalli, Bilasuvar, Shamkir, Gazakh and Guba is also planned.
A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding is to be signed between the UN office in Azerbaijan, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children, and the Bar Association of Azerbaijan. This document will allow parties to work more effectively to improve access to appropriate support and care services for women and girls who have been abused.

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. The invitation, delivered by Member of the European Parliament Michael Bloss at the COP29 climate conference, comes as Ibadoglu remains under house arrest and prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan.
