Azerbaijani activists condemn war against Ukraine
Baku/11.03.22/Turan: A group of Azerbaijani civil society activists appealed to the world community in connection with the war in Ukraine.
They called on the heads of state, international structures, women's organizations and world movements to make every effort to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible.
“We condemn the massacres of civilians, especially women and children.
We protest against the ruthless bombardment of peaceful cities and towns, the destruction of infrastructure, nature, historical monuments and cultural heritage. We ask to organize humanitarian assistance to the residents of cities and regions affected by the war,” the appeal says.
They demanded the withdrawal of "all armed formations illegally present on the territory of Ukraine."
"The risk of nuclear escalation and damage to nuclear power plants on the territory of Ukraine can cause irreversible consequences and a global human catastrophe," the authors of the appeal emphasize.
They also note that "the consequences of sanctions on Russia will cause a crisis in this country and lead to a humanitarian catastrophe for innocent citizens."
“The armed conflict with Armenia that has lasted for more than 30 years has brought a lot of grief to both our peoples. It will take decades to restore our losses, but no one will return human lives. We, the women of Azerbaijan, do not want a repetition of these tragedies for other peoples, we do not want mothers to lose their sons, husbands' wives, children - parents,” the appeal says.
The appeal was signed by about 30 representatives of civil society, including human rights activists Novella Jafaroglu, Arzu Abdullayeva, Dilara Efendiyeva, Mehriban Zeynalova, Mirvari Gahramanli and others.—06B-
