Azerbaijani Becomes Head of VimpelCom
Baku / 19.08.20 / Turan: The Board of Directors of VimpelCom on August 17 elected Rashid Ismayilov, the former Deputy Minister of Communications of the Russian Federation, as president of the company. This is stated in the message of this leading Russian telecommunications company. Since 2009, VimpelCom has been a member of the international group Veon Ltd., serving more than 240 million subscribers in the world under the Beeline trademark.
Rashid Ismayilov was born in Baku on November 2, 1965. He graduated from the boarding school of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow.
He has two higher educations. In 1988 he graduated from the Moscow State University named after Lomonosov.
In 1998-2005, he held various positions at Ericsson-Russia - from Director for Construction and Development of Communication Networks to Director of the Technical Support Service for the Russia-CIS region, which unites 12 countries.
In 2005-2010, he worked for Nokia Siemens Networks Russia, where he headed the service department in the Russia region.
From 2010 to 2013, he held the position of Vice President for Service, Purchasing and Supply at Huawei Technologies,
Since 2013 he was Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications.
On August 7, 2014, Rashid Ismayilov was appointed Deputy Minister of Communications of the Russian Federation.
In 2018, Ismayilov became the CEO of Nokia in Russia, and in 2020 he moved to the position of Adviser to the President of VimpelCom. -02D-
