Bakhtiar Hajiyev stopped hunger strike
Baku/29.12.22/Turan: Imprisoned public activist Bakhtiar Hajiyev stopped his 14-day hunger strike on 28 December. His lawyer Agil Laij told Turan about it.
According to the lawyer, Hajiyev stopped the action without any pressure. "Bakhtiar stopped the hunger strike in view of appeals by the public, lawyers and the request of his family. However, he has not ruled out resuming the action again in the future," Laij said.
Recall that Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was detained on 9 December on charges of hooliganism and contempt of court. The same day, Khatayi district court arrested him for 1 month and 20 days. On 15 December, Hajiyev pledged to go on an indefinite hunger strike demanding his release from custody. -16D-

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony. The invitation, delivered by Member of the European Parliament Michael Bloss at the COP29 climate conference, comes as Ibadoglu remains under house arrest and prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan.
