Bakhtiyar Hajiyev complained of hemorrhage from the stomach
Baku/18.01.23/Turan: Public activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, who is being held in custody, has serious health problems, his lawyer Zibeyda Sadigova told Turan. According to her, Hajiyev, who was on a hunger strike for 9 days, was very lethargic, his head was spinning. “In addition, yesterday he had a hemorrhage from his stomach.
Bakhtiyar Hajiyev said that despite the fact that he informed the doctors of the sanitary and medical unit of the Baku pre-trial detention center about this, they still did not take blood samples from him and did not conduct an examination,” the lawyer said.
The attempts to get comments from the Main Medical Directorate of the Ministry of Justice were futile. Today, the Baku Court of Appeal also considered Hajiyev's complaint about the restriction of the rights to visits and telephone conversations. Earlier, the court partially lifted the investigative body's ban on telephone conversations and visits, allowing him to contact close relatives. Hajiyev, however, insists that he has the opportunity to make phone calls and meet with other persons who are of legitimate interest to him.
The Court of Appeal dismissed the complaint.
* Bakhtiyar Hajiyev was detained on December 9 on charges of hooliganism and contempt of court. On the same day, the Khatai District Court arrested him for 1 month and 20 days.
On December 15, Hajiyev went on a hunger strike demanding his release from custody. On the evening of December 28, he ended his hunger strike after persistent appeals from members of the public and family members. However, on January 9, Gadzhiev resumed his hunger strike, after the appeal court once again rejected his arrest complaint. -16/03B-
